August 26, 1944 Dear Dad, Another 31 officers from Italy arrived today. They spent about a month in another camp before arriving here. Here are the names of the 3 from Texas: LT Oren R Salmons 418 Graham Ave, Dalllas, Capt. Horace Donaho Box 163 Tarleton Station, Stephenville, LT William M Reeves RFD No I Kerrville. They are all in fine shape. also saw L Schildt form my outfit and we talked all day about it. It was swell hearing late news about everyone, and it really makes me mad to be missing all the fun. That is the reason I don't wat to come straight home when the war is over. Three months more over here won' matter and although I have done a lot of traveling, I haven't been able to see a thing. Most of us feel the same way and I certainly hope you have no objections. It would be a shame to be here so long and not see anything. No matter where I am I will still be in the army. Have had 57 of your letters, the latest written July 7. Everything here is fine and all of us cheerful. Lt Medows who has been repatriated is bringing some pictues from me with him. Am feeling excellent, Love, Amon Jr. PS - Am glad to hear about the stock. Many thanks, I wrote you about 2 months ago about it. 10-31-44
