December 11, 1942 Dear Mr. Carter, I'm writing this little note in appreciation for your thoughtfulness and consideration. Today, your secretary called me and relayed your cable that you seen my husband, and he was well. You have no idea how grateful I was to receive this message. I have not received any mail from Maury for several weeks. Although I realize that this is bound to happen every once in a while, it certainly is a relief to get definite news that everything is alright. I hope Amon is fine. He is a grand fellow. It must have been wonderful for you to see him. I wish I could have such an opportunity. I have no idea whatsoever of what the boys are doing in London, any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Shirley Docton
