One would think from the caption that I intend to describe some great and notable event that either has or is about to take place and thereby enlighten at least the ignorant and [missing] with an eloquent flow of words and hyper[missing] with the hearts of the most dear [missing] as to think so let him [missing] and find he was greatly mis [missing] going to [missing] an attempt to offer a few [missing] the first excit[missing] State of affairs and the imaginary result: which I suppose might be termed The Crisis. But if I cannot benefit and one by my thoughts the question arises: why offer them. Merely because I cannot be silent on such an occasion. Who can be silent! When every thing seems to be turned upside down; the nations are greatly disturbed; every man woman and child are eternally asking and giving opinion on the momentous question together with numerous other questions about the result of the excitement I know what will be one result if no other by which a great many will be surprisingly enlightened. That is we will find out [missing] the public fool[missing] are: and I begin to think [missing] at a favor [missing] why judges because [missing] to [missing] If that critical time [missing] will. Will not an [missing] youth who is striving [missing] powers of his mind and of [missing] arm too. Who knows but that there are many youths of the time who imagine it is not an impossibility for them to make a Washington during the great and bloody war which I the imagination of many is impending over a peaceful nation. There is nothing like trying. A good determination carried into prosecution will accomplish much. Therefore I say to every youth set your mark high and “go ahead.” Inscribe your name upon the proud pillars of fame so that the rough hand of time never obliterate it. To be continued. A.
