Hood Co, Texas, July 5, 1883. Dear Papa, As I have not written to you since you have been gone I will try to write you a few lines this evening. It has been raining all day to day. We went out to the Orphan home yesterday and ate dinner. We had Chicken, Cabage [sic], Rostind Tart, Cornbread, _____ [paper tear] bread and Biscuits for dinner. We had one watermelon [sic]. Me and Little sister rode on the pony. We had a nice time. Mr. Hines has two little Apple trees one of them has but one on it, the other has a dozen or two. I went down to the brach and stayed a while down there. I seen two trout about a foot long and a good many little trout. In the evening I am beard and I went fishing. I caught seven nice perch and one cat. Sam caught nine or ten perch and cat when I thought it was time for us to start home we went to the house Mr. Hines went to Granbury he had not got back when we got back but he soon came then Mamma and the Children got in I got on my pony and we came home. Wallace is better. I am getting tired now and cannot think of any more to write. Write soon to your Son. Addie Clark Papa Brother has written in in such a hurry. He has made so many mistakes if it was not so late I would have him write it over. Mama.
