Dear Brother and Sister:
To day has been a day of great moment to us! Our long looked for visitor came arrived at 1/2 past five this morning – yes to us “a child is born a daughter given. how we would thank Him whose hand shapes the destiny of men and supports the weak – that our ____ treasured(?) comes with health blooming _________ and now apparently without injury to the mother. She has been quite cheerful all day - but is suffering of headache this evening. She scoured – churned and killed a chicken last night. Was in labor not more than 2 ½ or three hours. I will be truly thankful if sister still continues to do well. I want to get off to Farmersville and back by the time you get here if I can possibly do so. Rest of friends all well. Sister Gale has left us - the last signs of life left her yesterday about three o’clock - today at ten they laid her yonder - she leaves many to mourn her loss; both children and friends; but we have the full assurance that she is better - for seven long months she has been confined to her bed. She was not called off to leave a family of little children but spared to see them all grown up and settled in their habits - all but one enlisted under the banner of Our Savior. When such has been granted to us we ought to thank God and cheerfully go. Letter from Uncle C. State that is health is improving he almost quit coughing - I heard that he may be benefitted.
Aunt Sallie and mother are _____ while the others go to Canada and re____ them. No letters since I wrote you last; yours came safely to hand; The Methodists have had a big time -several got through – Ben Hays and Clarence White among the member – when it came to dividing the spoils the Presbyterians got half or a little over their meeting is to commence the last of this week dont know whether they will be as generous or no. I don’t think they will last as long. But away I have to cheer on – Milk - feed chickens Fix supper, ect.
All join in Sunday love Your brother,
