November 24, 1944 Mr. Amon G. Carter Fort Worth Star Telegram Fort Worth, Texas Dear Mr. Carter, Thanks for the pictures and articles on your interview with Col. Drake. I certainly do appreciate them both. Most of the boys look pretty thin, but I understand why they have all gained several pounds snce the pictures were taken. I'm written to both Col. Drake and to Lt. Meadows. I hope to hear from them soon, and their health contends to improve, Has Col. Drake for released from the hospital? or just allowed out for short visits? WIll a letter just addressed to opp. Alal. to reach Lt. Meadows, as that's all the address that I have. My last letter from Ivan was written August 28th and arrived here a letter over a year ago. The seemed very cheerful and optimistic. I talked to Mrs. Hal Jones in Austin, Tuesday, and she told me that Col. Jones seems to ve in very good spirits. It's nice to boys are not depressed over their lot in this terrible man made war. Some months ago ther were two articles in the Fort Worth Star Telegram on the occupation of Salerna. They were so interesting I thought perhaps you may remember them, and could get the clippings for me for the scrapbook I'm making for Ivan. It's kinda hard to get all the news of the 36th , but tat's what the has asked. If you can get this I'd certainly appreciate it, Mr. Carter. I want to say thank you again for the nice pictures, my little duaghter and I were both very pleased. She can pick, her daddy out all by herself, and was only 2 when hee left the States. Ivan so thrilled to find she hadn't forgotten her daddy and could even pick him out in strange large group pictures. I am always glad to hear from you and any news you may get of our boys. Sincerely, Mrs. Ivan C. Carlisle
