Dear Papa,
It is my time to write but it is so cool that I cant hardly be still. I wish you could have been here to eat breakfast with us we had chicken it was cooked just like you like it. Mr. Gorce brought us a nice watermelon yesterday evening. It was biger than a waterbucket we kept it until this morning. I wish you could have been here to help us eat it we had as much as we could eat Brother carried the mail three or four time and then he quit because Mr. Rawlins did not pay him. Mr. Gibson fixed the well yesterday. Some times we eat our supper out on the grass. It will not be long before we have watermelons in our garden. It is Mamma’s time to write tomorrow. IT is going to rain I think. Daisy does not come up till late. I am getting any longer and cannot be still any longer.
Write soon to your son
Carlie Clark
It is just pouring down rain. I am afraid we will not hear from the office this evening. I don’t think I ever saw it rain any harder.
