Austin TexDec 13th1901My Dear FatherWe received your letter and card. We are very glad you are so wellpleased and hope you will like every thingbetter all the time. I would imagine that is very cold there just now. Itis colder here than it has ever been, or than it was at all last winter. And I know it must be much colder further north. I hope it will moderate some before time for us to go home,as it wont be very pleasant traveling at night if it is as cold as it is now. Bessie and I will do Saturday night. I suppose brother will go Thursday night if we can get water by then. I know mother is anxious for us to go home as soon as we can. Sister saysshe is going Friday. So I guessBessie and I will be the last ones home. We will stay as long as our tickets are good which I believe is just to the third. I know we will miss you and Carlton very much. It is too bad for you both to have to be so far away from home and not be together.I hope it is the last Christmas you will ever have to be away from the rest of us. I hope Carlton and Wallace will get an invitation from the kinfolks to spend Christmas with them. Carl said he wrote them and was waiting for an answer and hopedtheywould invite him to visit them I don’t imagine Carl will get to studymuch duringthe holidayif he doesn’t go anywhere, because he will have to keep Wallace amused.I am sure Wallace wont want to study much.Miss Clemmons is back in school now. I spoke to her yesterday, thought maybe you had seen her, but she said she didn’t see you. It was very sad for her to be called home so suddenly I didn’t suppose she would come back to school, not for some time anyway. But I suppose she wanted to come now so she could take the examination.I hope you have a pleasant place to board and have enough fire to keep warm these cold times. We are looking forward to Saturday now with great pleasure, forwe are very anxious to go home. From now untilthattime I will be toobusyto do anything but study. You mustn’t getlonesome and must havea pleasant Christmas in spiteofbeing awayfrom home. Much love Zemula
