dc.description.transcription | Dear Uncle Amon: I am enclosing a short note to be readdressed to Amon Jr. I worte him two letters but I had my military address on it. And now I find out that it's not acceptable; so it will have to be remailed without my military address. I trust everything is going well as possible with you and yours. . I am out here doing my job. I am well and happy. I expect to make captain in a month or two and expect to be back in the United States by June or July. I would like to tell you all the things I am doing but military censorship forbids it so I will be saving them till that fine day when the war is over and all the boys return home. Your Nephew, 1st Lt Phillip E. Laughlin Dear Amon: Well how's the old boy these days? You've got your nerve taking a vacation just hwne there's a lot of work to be done. There you sit, drinking that good German beer, chasing those pretty Fraulines and winning all the money in camp playing poker. BUt seriously, I know it's no picnic. I konw you'll really enjoy a return to a good old top sirloin steak from Texas, a cold bottle of Budweiser, and some of those beautiful Texas girls, and all of your old friends, and most of all you family. I know I will! It's just a question of time. Bob Goodrich is out here. Gary is following in my footsteps. I am well and happy and doing my job well. I expect a captain in 2 or 3 months. Your cousin, Phillip E. Laughlin | |
