My Dear Miss Deakins: Do not think we don't appreciate of the great idness it is for you to forward we what information Mr. Carter has at Oflag 64 and it is so lucky residents. Short letters I hear from my son Bruce are brave attemps to minimize the misfortunes and offer some softening details as he tells in a letter receieved this morning. I really find it "hard to take" and had great ratio faction in the Carter's protests. sometihing is very wrong everywhere. As I read in an article where escaptes me, sureley these POWs ar the forgotten men. If the US army, I was apprehensive where I found where they are so far off any Allied heat. Bruce has no packages yet. Burce says it ddoesn't take much to amuse them now. Fancy boys I breed and circumstance if ours to be frozen, starved, cramped, and condition into this. I spend most of my time reading. I don't miss the excitement as much as I did when I was first captured." This is dated 2/9/42and came today. there's a letter from the YMCA in Pittsburg announcing the arrival of the Tracy Strong. I had intended not to invite you unitl I had seen him. I will let you know anything I can hear of Oflag 64 and our boys. Thank you both very much.
