dc.description.transcription | Thorp Spring, Tex.May 6, 1894.My dear Brother:I wish I had time to tell you of the holidays just passed, how much we enjoyed them and all, but the ten bell has rungand to bed I must go. Have been to call on Miss Evans this afternoon, and since church Hinnie has been here so I’ve had no opportunity to write. Mr. Parks has a girl at his house –don’t you know it will be smart and pretty? We have a croquet set and think we shall get much enjoyment out of it. The Paluxy crowd did not enjoy their excursion near as much this year as last –so many of them say. We few who were left had a most enjoyable time. Friday we went on a picnic and remained until near nine oclock. There were ten of us. Blanche and Bro. McClendon, Mr. Campbell and I were among the crowd. Our dinner was excellent –ice cream in abundance.
Talked to the young men ____hours in a stretch. Yesterday evening we played croquet with Bros. McClendon and Shamburger, after the game we went to the spring and [Illegible]returned it was ten oclock. Blanche is one of the most popular girls in school –and there is no telling what may happen before time for you to return. I’ll keep a sharp lookout for you. It is really dangerous for her to be with me, for she had no particular liking for gentlemen in general until she associated so much with me, and I have such a strong liking for them that she is imbibingsome of my spirit. I hope with her help to soon become real popular. The young[illegible]all want to get on the good side of me so they will stand a better chance with her, but they are a little afraid of you. They often tell me what good taste my brother has –and how lucky he is. Enough foolishness –I’ll try to write more soon. Miss Evans will be withme part of this week. Good night-Yours –Sister. | |
