dc.description.transcription22 May 43. Mr. Amon Carter Ft. Worth, Tex. Dear Mr. Carter, Thank you very much for your letter and for the enclosure. It is very reissuing to read the letters from Amon Jr. and I hope that all is well with him as can be under the circumstances. It is reasonable to believe that his letters present a true picture and that no pressure is brought to these men until he writes otherwise. As concerns with his promotion my: Stipp wrote me that more of my recommendations had been approved and that the officer also regrettable took over the battalion elected. It would give us pleasure if you would visit us if you ever find yourself near Ft. Knox. I hope the news from Amon will continue reassuring and that before long an exchange of prisoners will find him back in the American forces. Sincerely yours, CP Summerall Jr.
