April 16, 1943 Dear Mr. Carter - Saw in the San Francisco paper yesterday about Amon Jr. being a prisoner of the Germans. You don't know how glad I was to read this, like all the rest of Amon's friends. Mr. Carter I was at Amon's twenty-first birthday dinner. I remember there were about 50 of us there that day, and now we are in all parts of the World. Hope God will help carry all 50 of us through this War, and we can all be together again some day. If you contact Amon give him my regards. Sincerely, Frank Waddell U.S.S. Trathen 70 (?) (?) San Francisco, Calif.
