Lampasas, Texas April 15, 1943 Dear Mr. Carter, Words can't express how happy I was last evening when I received the good news, and, I know, you were just as thrilled. When I heard over the news broadcast that you had word from Amon Jr., I was hoping that I might have some word also. It means so much just to know that they are alright. I called Marie Burney and told her about Amon Jr., the Jones bay, and Chester. She was happy to hear about it too. Marie had a letter from Buddy when she arrived home Monday morning. She said it contained no news but Buddy was fine. Mr. Carter, again I wish to thank you for seeing Marie Burney and me last Saturday. We enjoyed the visit very much, and it made us understand the situation more clearly after having talked to you. I also thank you for calling me last night, and if you find out anything else, please let me know, and, I assure you, I will do the same. Sincerely, Margaret Warren.
