Oct. 14, 1943 Dear Mr Carter, I've been intending to write you for some time, but there's so little I can write that I've just put it off. I appreciate your many kindnesses to my family & hope that someday I can express my thanks in person. I'm looking forward to drinking the whiskey you gave Jan when I get home next year. I hope that Amon will be with us on the homeward journey. Things are progressing very well. A few more heavy blows in the next 4 or 5 mos. will convince the Nazis that discretion is the better part of valor. It's just about a year to the day that you 1st came to England. I've been hoping that you could visit with us again, but I know the encentive isn't there now. With best wishes for the new year, I am, Sincerely Sidney P.S. Pinky Talbott showed me the letters.
