Nassau N.Y. Aug. 17/35 Mr. Amon Carter, Ft Worth Tex. Dear Sir: - Mr. Carter, will you send me the issue of Ft Worth Star Telegram (Todays) describing Will Rogers fatal fall. I am spending summer here - in "up state" New York. We are at Nassau Gen. Del. I want the Texas issue, because I have so often heard Will Rogers on Radio speaking of you - where you would be in NYC or else where. The tragedy is beyond words. I only knew him "on the Air Waves" - he has no substitute - the one & only - one. By the way, I've been to Saratoga Springs Spa. to see the 3D Stable horses run. I have seen (?) twice - Don Meade - a wonderful jockey rode him - but - he came in "last", both times. A beautiful animal but - too heavy I think. I shall be here @ Nassau until Sept 1 - Please send me the issue of todays paper. And by the way, Im really checking on their Radio here. I wrote Eddie Dunn of "Dough-Boys." Doc Sneider & his Cowboys are here - booked full up - till Oct 1 - and Marc Williams of W.A.C.O is @ Hartford, & they're wild about him. Thinx what the tough boys would do!! Gee! They would burn them down like a Texas Praire fire. W.G.Y. Schenectady is my Station - only 20 miles away - at General Electric Co. Its some outlet, no foolin'. But after all, we use less "canned" music than they do here. But the news flashes every 2 hrs are wonderful to listen to. Thanxs, in advance for my paper and I extend my sympathy to you Mr. Carter in the loss of your dear friend - Will Rogers. Sincerely, Mrs. F. R. Peterson Nassau, N.Y. Gen. Def. (of. Temple. Texas.)
