dc.description | 3 PART INTERVIEW In this interview, L. Michelle Smith discusses her early life, education, and career. Smith attended TCU in the 1990s and was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. At that time Black students made up a small percentage of the student body. She was one of two Black female TCU cheerleaders at the time. She discusses the campus climate and experiences with racism. Smith was also a columnist for the student newspaper the TCU Skiff and frequently wrote about race. Smith was on the ballot for Homecoming Queen but did not win. She discusses the details of this election. | |
