Abstract
There is extensive literature regarding best practices when working with one or two of the following populations - people experiencing homelessness, suicidal ideation, and substance use, but there is a research gap when understanding the intersection of all three in adults. This research aims to investigate the question, "What are the best practices when working with adults in mental health settings experiencing the intersection of homelessness, substance use, and suicidal ideation?" This paper will evaluate commonalities amongst interventions used by mental health professionals and identify suggested intervention techniques as to how these best practices can be applied in work with the intersection of the aforementioned populations. The research question will be studied through a literature review and exploratory interviews with mental health professionals with relevant work experience.
