dc.description.transcription45 Jersey St. San Francisco, Calif. April 10, 1943 Hi darling - How's everything? Still got your chin up, I hope. We're all just fine and dandy. The kids are getting so big. Just think Johnny is almost 4 months old already. Isn't our family increasing, tho? And as if 3 kids aren't enough to keep me busy, we're about to acquire 2 dogs. In fact, we already have one of them. Her name is Peggy and she is awfully friendly and good with children. We're so busy these days - what with our garden and painting and cleaning up the house. Spring cleaning, you know. The time of year when all husbands want to leave home. Sometimes I think the wives do too. I bought a new bedroom set for the children the other day - those cute bunk-bed outfits. Bobby is so thrilled over it - especially since we've promised him the upper bunk. I heard from Dave a day or so ago. He hopes to get a leave in a few weeks so he can come home for a visit. We haven't seen him since he enlisted last October. I haven't had a letter from the folks in Okla. for awhile but Dave heard from Aunt Lucia and everyone was just fine. Well, honey, I think I'll close now as Claude wants to add a few lines. Write to us if you possibly can. Love & kisses from us all. XXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOO Gin Hi Smith ol keed- How are you, well and in good spirits I hope. Keep the ol' chin up; we're all thinking of you and wishing you were home here with us, but I guess we can't have everything, but maybe it won't be so long before you will be with us again. Well Smith, I guess Gin has told you I have a new job, just trying to do my bit toward that day when all this mess is over. When you get back your going to be mobbed by a crowd of kids yelling Uncle Smith, we're going to have a mob by the way we're going. Doris & Keith have two, us with three. Well Smith I don't know what else to say so will close wishing you all the luck in the world and keep your chin up. We'll be seeing you. - Claude PRISONER OF WAR MAIL WRITTEN 4/10/1943 POSTAGE FREE TECHNICAL SERGEANT SMITH L.
