Fort Sam Houston Texas February 1, 1937 Hello Folks, I'll bet you're surprised to hear from me so soon. Well to-day was pay-day and I found that my allotment had run out so don't surprised if you don't get a check this month. I'm going to have it re-newed as soon as possible. I'm going to send $5 with this letter as I have to pay for the glasses I bought. I told you about them, didn't I? If the allotment hadn't run out I would have had to borrowed to pay for 2 them. If you need the other five-spot just write soon and I'll get it easy enough. I'm really sorry I couldn't send ten; if I hadn't had to buy the glasses I would have had some to spare. I am getting alon gfine now. Radio School is over and I'm going duty again. We get five of the new fast tanks in April; five more in Oct. and five more by the end of the year. With them we wwe will get many new ratings. Every tank driver will be a corporal, tank 3 Commanders will be sergeants and radio operators will be Private first class with a 5th or 4th class specialist rating. That won't be so bad. We will have lots of maneuvering this summer; about 6 months in all. The Second Division is being reorganized. It will be smaller, faster and will twice the fire power. It will all motoroized and with new automatic weapons. It is an experiment. I hope both of you are in good health. Take good care of yourself. Write soon and tell me the news. Lots of love, Smith S.L. Green 2nd Tank Co. Ft Sam Houston Texas Mr. W.M. Green Box 3426 Broken Bow, Oklahoma
