Fort Sam Houston, Tex. March 31, 1937 Dear Grandma and Grandpa; How is everybody at home now? I am feeling pretty good now and hope you are the same. I haven't gotten an answer from the last letter I wrote you all but today was pay day so I'm sending all I have at the present. I seem to have spent more thatn I thought this month. I owed for the large picture I sent Virginia, for a pretty good shoe bill, for show tickets, for civilian K.P.'s, for Post exchange credit, the barber, the tailor and what not. However, I won't have so much this month. I can send only send $7 this month but from now on I'll send the regular $10 because I'm expecting to get promoted at any time now. We are have machine gun practice now every day. 37 mm guns are no longer used in light tanks so we don't have any more practice on them. .50 caliber machine guns are used instead of the 37's. I think we will go to Camp Bullis in April to fire on the range. I don't know for sure whether I will go or not as I made expert last year so don't fire this year. I may stay in Ft. Sam Houston and do guard duty. Or I might go to Bullis and work in the target pits again and listen to the machine gun bullets whine and crack over my head and get my eyes full of dirt from low bullets. I got a card from Beatrice and Florence a week or two ago. Tell them I'll answer sometime soon. If the $7 isn't enough just let me know. I can borrow some easily and pay it back next month. Answer soon with a long letter and all the news. Lots of love Smith. S.L. Green 2nd Tank Co. Ft Sam Houston Texas Mr. W.M. Green Box 426 Broken Bow, Oklahoma
