dc.description.transcription | 45 Jersey St. San Francisco, Cal. January 10, 1946 Dear Grandma & Grandpa, I received your letter a few days ago and was very glad to hear that everything is fine. I am O.K. When I came out here I certainly expected to be back there before now. However, David came in on the 1st San Diego and we keep expecting him any day so I've been waiting to see him. I hated to leave and miss seeing him by only a day or two. I'm not staying here because I like it the best. I'm ready to leave the city. I got new tires without any trouble. I went down to Sears, Roebuck an dCo. and the man there gave me tires although most other people had to place an order and wait a week or two. We had a nice time New Years. Claud & Virginia couldn't go out because of the kids so we called up a bunch of people and invited them over for a party. We had a house full and everyone had a big time. Nobody got drunk enough to have trouble. I've seen Charles McGowen several times the last week. his ship was scheduled to pull out last week but the orders was changed suddenly and they're still here. He gets leave every other day and comes over. Doris and her family are getting along fine. Dodie is back in school. Grandma Smith is getting along fine. She is here now visiting a little while. Tell everyone there that I'll be back soon. If you see Nellie Jo tell her hello for me and she can tell Ray the same. Well, I can't think of a single thing to tell so I may as well close. I'm sorry I didn't write but I've been expecting to leave any time. I hope Dave shows up soon. Goodbye. Lots of love Smith S. L. Green 45 Jersey St. S. F., Cal. WRITTEN 1/10/46 Mr. W.M.
