Thursday May 21, 1970 Dear Smith and Marie- It was so good to have a visit with you last month. I'm sorry I wasn't in condition to see that you had a really good time but it did me a world of good just having you here. I'm just now beginning to feel like doing anything and not much at that. This surgery really too a lot out of me and altho' the surgery itself was successful and I'm healing beautifully there is still no indication that it is going to do the job it was supposed to do. Of course I knew there was no guarantee and that we might not see any results for 8 to 10 weeks. It has been 5 weeks now or it will be next Monday and so far nothing. Of course a lot can happen in the next few weeks so I'm not giving up yet. I've got a pretty rugges constitution and there's still the chemical treatments. But enough of me & my problems- How have you two been? Did you enjoy San Francisco and yourflight back home? How is the weather back there? Ours has been rather peculiar- cold & windy one day & hot as hades the next. Lately it has been mostly hot tho'. I sit out in the yard for a few minutes but thats all, then I hobble back inside where its cool. Claude has been on vacation last week & this week but I haven't been up to doing anything so he gets up & goes fishing now & then. Thats where he is today. So far he hasn't had much luck but maybe today he will. He got a pretty early start. you should see Natalie. She has grown so much since you were here. Those pictures we took of her in th elittle red outfit turned out really good. Linda is having some copies made to send you. It has been a blessing to have Linda here with me this past month or so because she has been such a help. I don't have to worry about anything. She and Claude have been taking such good care of me. Over doing it at times, I think because I'm not really all that helpless. I don't think I'll be able to come back there to visit for quite a while. I have to see the doctor every week and so far I'm not up to travel. We thought maybe later in the year we could but I'll let you know in plenty of time. I must close now the mailman is due & I want to get this out. Love gin Mrs. C. Lillian 2837 E. indianapolis Fresno, Calif 93726 Virginia Mr. and Mrs. Smith L.
