| dc.description.transcription | June 23, 1970 Dear Smith and Marie - It was so nice to talk to you the other week. I don't think I wrote to you while I was in the hospital altho' I meant to. I'm still weak so my writing is not all it should be. Anyway I had to go back to the hospital for 6 days and had intravenous chemical injections for 5 days which made me sicker than a dog. Now I have one injection a week at the doctors office and I still get sick. Hardly anything stays down. Of course I'm taking so many pills I'm a walking drug store. I have 2 more injecgtions to go and the I have to take a rest period. Then the doctor says we will play it by ear. So far he thinks the lymph nodes are getting a little smaller which is encouraging. Also my breathing and coughing are improving. The X-Rays showed that the cancer has penetrated deeper and I have a few spots on my lungs which make me cough. Hopefully the chemicals will help that too. But enough of my problems except to say that if all goes well we may try to visit you in October. Anyway we'll let you know in plenty of time. Doris & Dody drove down a week ago for a short visit. Dody was on vacation and Doris just came along for the ride. She fixed Maries specialty chicken and we enjoyed it so much. She had to rush back for Susies 8th gradegraudation so will probably be down again in a week or so. I haven't been out of the house except to the doctors office for so long I feel like a stranger to the town when I even had to forgo Danny & Scotss birthday party for the first time since thy've been born. I was so disappointed. Danny was 8 on Juny 19 and Scott was 7 on June 20. Bob & Billie took off to the mountains this week for a vacation. This is a good time since its 106? here and believe me I feel it. It must be cool in the mountains. Jim called last night and said it was nice and cool in San Mateo so I imagine its pretty nice in San Bruno too. Well, there really isn't too much news - school is out and there are lots ofkids playing in the streets. Chris put hers in a nursery school for the summer since she works and now they want to quit regular school and go there all the time. They have arts & crafts - swimming lessons and go on field trips to various points of interest hereabouts. They really enjoy it. The rest of the family is fine. Natalie cut her first tooth on Dors birthday June 18. I'm ashamed of this writing and hope you can read it. I'll do better next time Love Gin Mrs. C.
