dc.description.transcription3 AUG. 1982 SMITH L. GREEN 12400 BLUE WATER CIR. AUSTIN, TX, 78758 Hi Green, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw your name in the July issue of EX-POW BULLETIN. We, my wife & I, have just returned from the convention at Colorado Springs. We had a real nice time at altho I did not meet any old buddies! Were you there? There were a lot of Japan PW's there, they had reunions all over the place! Austin must have an active chapter, here we don't have one yet! Have been out of touch with the military since I retired in 1962 but have looked back on the days at Carswell often! I have a photo yearbook published about 1949 at Carswell that I look at about every ten years or so! Maybe you have one too? It makes you wonder where they are and what happened to them! We met a nice couple from Austin at the convention, Mr. & Mrs. Charles M. Lowe, 11705 SWEETWATER TRAIL, ZIP 78750, they are good people but then all P.O.W.'s are! I left Carswell in 1958, Germany 4 years, then came out here, restored antique cars for a number of years, then instructed auto mechanics classes for 8 years but lately am retired again. HAve been involved in shooting sports lately, rifle & pistol and hunting when I can am blessed with good health and in fair shape considering! Just to say hello and wishing you all the best, I remain, an old friend, Bill Hofer William E. Hofer 1710 NABORS LANE ODESSA, TX, 79761 PHONE- 915/366-0627 P.S. - Come see us William E.
