dc.description.transcription1953, April 10. Mr. Jack Roden, Box 1182, Deport, Texas. Dear Mr. Roden: Thanks for submitting the iron specimens to me; I received them some days ago and apologize for not writing you sooner. The large one is a meteorite. I am assuming you found it near Deport, and on that basis I will pay you the rather high price of $24.00, check enclosed. I propose this be considered in full settlement of all the pieces sent, tho I am pretty sure the three smaller pieces are artificial and of no value. They are probably pisces of old burned grates. It is important to me to know just where this piece was picked up. Will you please be good enough to write and tell me on whose farm and just what part of it this was found? I hope to come up there soon and do some personal searching with a metal detector I am now having repaired, and would like to hunt in this region. Yours most sincerely,
