This project illustrates the ways in which feminist theory can positively impact how theatre companies go about conducting their season selection, audition, rehearsal, and performance practices to support, protect, and uplift marginalized people. I first establish a basis of understanding for my goals with this project, as well as outlining the roots and basic principles of feminist theory. I then detail the primary takeaways from my interviews with theatre professionals and our discussions regarding their inclusive practices as artists and theatre makers. I also detail ways in which aspects of feminist theory can be applied to every step of the artistic process for a theatrical production and offer tangible ways this can be practiced. I then discuss my conversation with student director Hallie Kaisand, who used some of these concepts in the production of The Wolves she directed at TCU in the spring of 2023.
