The purpose of this paper was to identify and discuss the published texts available on the developing female voice and the adolescent female voice change. Materials were gathered from various scholarly journals and published books to thoroughly summarize the current research on this topic. For the purposes of this paper, I will only be discussing publications based solely on the female voice or works where significant contributions were made to the whole of this topic. I will not be discussing publications that briefly acknowledge the female voice change or deny its existence at all. Current pedagogical research is heavily focused on the male voice change and, while that is an area of significance, there is a lack of focus on and understanding of the adolescent female voice change.
