dc.description.transcription? Franz Hillen Meppen/? Walb 9, Prov. Hanover. 1949, September 10. Mr. Oscar E. Monnig Texas Observers Amateur Astronomy Fort Worth 3 Texas Dear sir: I received your letters from June 23rd and August 21st as well as Volume 4 Number 1 of the contributions of the Meteoritical Society. I thank you for sending tme the copy of the 1947 reprint of the Meteoritical Society, I am much interested in reading articles on meteors and meteorites. You may keep the photographs. I still have the negative pictures and if you wish, I can make more copies. I agree to the price of 25$ for the slice of the meteorite "Emsland" which I sent you. Could you send me the money on my Couko Nv. C 4154 Dr Hillen of the "Sparkasue Meppen." by your bank? My bank advised me to do so. If you are interested in I will tell you other opportunities to buy meteorites. I will pay attention if such meteorites are offered in the German magazines I read. A shone meteorite (ca 1,56 kg) was already offered to me by a Mr. Krauss from Bavaria. If you wish I will mediate the affair for you. I am an expert for metals and a pupil of the professors Vogel and Meppen. My subjects are: mathematics, physics and chemistry. It is a pity that I have no microscope for metals, so I can't make tests as to structural condition. But perhaps I can tell you addresses of people who own meteorites. I will do anything I can for you here in Germany. May I write to you in German? It would be a little easier for me. Yours most sincerely Fr Hillen
