Dr. E. P. Henderson, Washington 25, D.C. Dear Dr. Henderson: It was very kind of you to give me a copy of your letter of June 19th to Mrs. H. R. Wilson of Forestburg, Texas. A considerable tale hangs thereby, and I am in the dog house from which you may help rescue me. This woman used to live in Fort Worth and has been familiar with my efforts to retrieve meteorites; she had one of my circulars. A stone of some 58 1/2 pounds was brought into town last December and she notified me; I went up to Forestburg January 1st and made my first meteorite identification of the year! This is a badly weathered chondrite found at 97° 39' W., 33° 30' by careful location on a state highway planning map of scale 1 mile to the inch. In February I bought this for $65 and promised the finder, one Blake D. Scott, that I would get him some publicity in our local paper, hove his picture run, and put the meteorite on exhibit locally in the Children's Museum. Pressure of business and other activities caused me to neglect this, and Mrs. Wilson got especially irked with me but because I didn’t answer a letter of hers about such publicity, etc., in March—it was one of those cases where I hoped from day to day to get something done. Finally, she phoned me and said they had another possible meteorite, because of my failure to keep faither with them on the earlier deal they would not let me have It! I made my excuses and gaveher [gave her] repeated directions for checking the new object, finally suggesting she send you a chip if she didn’t deal with me. Now the promised article has finally been published (see enclosed) and the stone put on exhibit here. I am writing her to see what she has done with the stone, and if I can work with you on it in any way I'll gladly do so. Sincerely,
