dc.description.transcription | 1960, Jan. 7 Mr. Porter Rankin, Midland, Texas. Dear Mr. Rankin: I'm going to bother you once more about the FortStockton [Fort Stockton] iron meteorite. Here are the names of the Pecos County Tax-Collector and Assessor for the last 28 years: 1931 J. L. Moore 1936 W. P. Rooney 1937 F. S. Wilson [uncle of Wilson Store Clyde ? Wilson on phone 1-11 Rankin says about this year but he doesn’t recall] 1941 Dan B. Bihl 1943 B. R. Hillger 1947 Charlie N. Baker 1954 C. S. Ten Eyck 1958 J. M. McDonald Close your eyes and think back over the years! Do any of these names ring a bell as being the man from whom you got the meteorite? Here's a card for a quick answer. Sincerely, [Man later had a store in Ft. Stockton but he is not sure it was a dry goods store.] | |
