dc.description.transcription1958, Sep. 12. Mr. Porter Rankin, P.O. Box 1024, Midland, Texas. Dear Mr. Rankin: The meteorites arrived in good condition. I will take them at your offer of $30.00 and check is enclosed. The small stone is from the Plainview, Texas, fall. When you mentioned Hereford, I thought maybe you meant Adrian, because Nininger found a meteorite near Adrian which is sometimes referred to or known as coming from near Hereford. The Plainview fall was actually a very prolific one from which he retrieved over 900 stones, but I am still satisfied in acquiring another little specimen to add to some larger ones I already have from the same group. I want to bother you for all the additional Information I can get on the one found some 56 miles south of Fort Stockton. I know of no reported mete orite [meteorite] locality In that district except an iron Nininger lists from near Sanderson, and I would like to fasted this one down more closely and get any history still available on it. Your kind help in answering the attached queries as best you can will be much appreciated. Sincerely,
