This paper is to accompany the script and trailer for the short film, EMPTY, which was written, directed, and acted in by Anna Guarino, who also co-produced the piece. Its purpose is to explain the process of the film's creation, from the initial conception of the idea down to the current stage of post-production, including gathering a production team, financial support, and popularity, as well as the "life and death" of the idea as it entered every stage of production. The film itself is intended to be complete by the end of the year 2014. EMPTY is a story of psychological turmoil, set in a dystopian society. It centers around a duo of protagonists who, in finding each other, are forced to their wit's end to confront the limits of their convictions, and are faced with the choice to break or concede to the world in which they dwell. The drama/thriller, which also has elements of sci-fi was intended to be a creation that could explore the notion of reality and the power of knowledge. For the purposes of better writing an artistic statement and further executing the goals of the project, the paper is in first person; achieving a more personal feel, and further connecting the audience to the author, and the art.
