Abstract | This paper is a reflection on the documentary Anna Dietrichson and I created for our departmental honors thesis, A Different Mission: The Extraordinary Stories of Cassata High School. I will review the narrative of the film itself, and then focus on the actual process of making it. I will take you through the logistics of pre-production, production, and post-production and reflect upon them. The film turned out well, but not as well as we would have liked; however, the lessons learned are extremely valuable to us for our potential futures as film-makers and in life as individuals who remain curious, open-minded, and engaged in the world around us. |
